    Takayama Ukon Becomes Lord of Takatsuki Castle

    Takayama Ukon became lord of Takatsuki Castle together with his father Hidakami. He undertook the expansion of the castle and development of the castle town, establishing it as a center of Christianity through the construction of over twenty churches.

    5/3Harada Naomasa Dies at Tennōji Fort

    Honganji forces, numbering over 10,000, counterattacked. In fighting near Tennōji Fort, they killed Harada Naomasa, a commander of Oda's forces.

  14. 5/7Nobunaga Rides Out to Relieve Tennōji Fort

    Nobunaga departed from Wakae, broke through the Honganji siege, and entered the fort where he joined forces with Akechi Mitsuhide and others to repel the attackers. During this action, he sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.

  15. Mōri Forces Win the First Battle of Kizugawaguchi

    A Mōri and Murakami naval convoy carrying provisions to Ishiyama Hongan-ji defeated the Oda fleet at the mouth of the Kizu River and kept the maritime supply route open. After the defeat, Nobunaga ordered Kuki Yoshitaka and others to build large warships.

    11/6Second Naval Battle at Kizugawa Inlet

    Oda's large Ataka warships commanded by Kuki Yoshitaka defeated the Mōri fleet and cut off seaborne supply routes to Ishiyama Honganji.

  17. 11/24Nakagawa Kiyohide Defects to the Oda

    Nakagawa Kiyohide, who had been besieged under Araki Murashige, expelled Murashige's supporters Ishida Iyo and Watanabe Kantayū and surrendered to Oda Nobunaga.

  18. Takayama Ukon Submits to Oda Nobunaga

    When Araki Murashige defected from Oda Nobunaga, Takayama came under attack from the Oda forces but surrendered and was pardoned, retaining his position as lord of Takatsuki Castle.

  20. Ishiyama War Ends

    Honganji leader Kennyo accepted an imperial-mediated peace and withdrew from Ishiyama Honganji, ending roughly ten years of war between the Honganji and Oda Nobunaga.

    Oda Nobutaka had assembled near Osaka for an expedition to Shikoku, but abandoned it after the Honnōji Incident. He then joined Hashiba Hideyoshi's army against Akechi Mitsuhide at Yamazaki.
