Date Tanemune's rescue and flight to Kakeda Castle
Confined Tanemune was rescued by his retainers and fled to Kakeda Castle, the seat of his son-in-law Kakeda Toshimune. Seeking aid from his kinfolk among neighboring daimyo, the Date clan's internal strife escalated into a broader conflict across southern Ōu.

Date Masamune Recaptures Shiraishi Castle
In response to the Battle of Sekigahara, Masamune attacked Shiraishi Castle from the Uesugi forces. The region became Oda territory again, and Masamune obtained a certificate of recognition from Tokugawa Ieyasu for one million koku.
