1610: Ieyasu Dispatches Tanaka Shōsuke to New Spain
Ieyasu dispatched the Kyoto merchant Tanaka Shōsuke to Spanish New Spain (Mexico) to explore renewing trade with Spain's Manila-based colonial network. The mission reflected Ieyasu's ambitions to expand overseas commerce and formed part of a broader pattern of exchange that would culminate in the later Keichō embassy to Europe.

The main enclosure of Sunpu Castle, destroyed in a fire in Keichō 12, was rebuilt, and the tenshu (tower keep) was completed in Keichō 15.

Tokugawa Ieyasu mobilized twenty western and northern daimyo to begin building Nagoya Castle as a defense against Osaka and the seat of the Owari Tokugawa house.
Honda Tadakatsu, daimyo of Kuwana, died and was buried at Jōdo-ji, where Honda Tadakatsu Honbyō (Main Mausoleum) was established. This occurred approximately nine years after he became daimyo.
