Ordered by Oda Nobunaga to campaign against the Mōri in western Japan, Hashiba Hideyoshi marched into Harima and began the Chūgoku campaign in earnest.

Takayama Ukon Transferred to Akashi, Harima
Under Toyotomi Hideyoshi's settlement of Settsu, Takayama was transferred from Takatsuki to Akashi in Harima and undertook construction of Funage Castle and development of the castle town.
