Xavier receives official permission to preach in Yamaguchi

Xavier obtained Japan's first official permission to preach from Ōuchi Yoshitaka. Using the abandoned temple of Daidōji as a base, he began his activities in Yamaguchi.

Ōtomo Yoshishige meets with Xavier

Ōtomo Yoshishige of Bungo invited Xavier to meet with him and granted permission for Christian missionary work. This marked the beginning of the Ōtomo clan's engagement with Christianity.
