Takeda Nobutora

Head of the Takeda clan of Kai. Upon succeeding to the headship in 1507 (Eishō 4), he repeatedly engaged in conflicts and reconciliations with various Kai daimyo families and regional powers such as the Aburakawaokoyamagatarigentai, Ōi, Kurihara, and Imai clans, consolidating his authority as lord of Kai Province by around 1531. In 1519, he relocated his base from Kawada to Tsutsujigazaki and established a castle town in Kōfu with markets, temples, and roads built with concentrated settlement of relatives and retainers. In 1520, he constructed Yōhaizan Castle as his stronghold. In June 1541, while on a visit to Imagawa Yoshimoto in Suruga, his eldest son Harushin (later Shingen) prevented his return and forced him to retire. The headship passed to Harushige (Shingen), and he subsequently lived under Imagawa patronage before later moving to Kyoto and Shinano Takatō, where he died in 1574.
